Ixigo is one of India’s most renowned online and mobile travel services and planning guide application. Ixigo started in June 2006 by two IITainsAloke Bajpai and Rajnish Kumar. CEO Bajpai was born in the city of Allahabad and graduated from IIT Kanpur in Electrical Engineering. Soon, he moved to France to work for a travel technology company “Amadeus”. 

The company aggregates and compares instant travel information, prices and availability of flights, trains, buses, cabs, hotels, packages, and destinations. After Amadeus, he started pursuing his business studies at INSEAD’s Asia campus Singapore. After coming back to India, Bajpai met his then classmate Kumar (Co-founder) and they both decided to start Ixigo, a travel search engine website.

Ixigo is also India’s largest trip planning portal in India with details, pictures, reviews, localities, prices, and timings for over 2 lakhs places to visit, things to do, attractions, activities, restaurants and tourist destinations. The company also assists them to track and manage PNRs at one place. 

Ixigo’s business model is on lead-generation for OTAs, bus booking sites, car aggregators, hotels, airlines, and also on target contextual advertising from companies who wish to grasp premium travel customers. 

Ixigo’s PNR prediction feature is apart from other such services because they not only provide real-time PNR status but also give a precise prediction for wait-list and RAC tickets. The reason behind its success is the minded data from millions of PNRs over the last few years of real PNRs tracked through the application. This feature is capable to show near-exact possibility with the waitlisted tickets.
