Namma Yatri to Provide Scholarships for Children Of Auto & Cab Drivers

An open mobility app called Namma Yatri has started a new program to help Bengaluru and Chennai’s taxi and auto drivers’ children with their schooling.

The goal of the scholarship program, “Namma Yatri Rising Stars,” is to give 10th and 12th grade students financial support for pursuing higher education.

The program addresses any financial obstacles that would prevent individuals from pursuing higher education while also recognizing their academic accomplishments.

The goal of the Namma Yatri Rising Stars program is to elevate more than 500 pupils a year. One such recipient is Bhavana, the daughter of Siddegowda, a Bengaluru-based auto driver for Namma Yatri.

In her SSLC exam, Bhavana received a flawless score of 625/625. She is struggling financially, but she still wants to be an IAS officer. For students like Bhavana, these scholarships lessen their financial load and provide doors to better futures.

Scholarships were given out at events in Chennai and Bengaluru. Students participated in cultural activities and shared their objectives at the Bengaluru event.

Along with heads of driver unions, T. Abraham IAS, Commissioner of Technical Education, and M. Arun Prakash, Founder & CEO of Guvi, presided over the ceremony in Chennai.

A stringent selection procedure was employed to guarantee that the scholarships were awarded to the most worthy applicants.

Rajapalayam car driver N Chandrabose expressed his appreciation by saying, “My family has benefited a lot from this scholarship. Even though I excelled academically in my tenth grade, I was forced to leave school and work as an autorickshaw driver because of financial difficulties. I did not want my son to experience anything like it. Now he can focus on his academics and pursue his passion. We value Namma Yatri’s assistance very much.”

C Parthasarathy, his son who was accepted to IIT, continued, “I am overjoyed to be awarded this scholarship. It frees me up to follow my goals without having to worry about money. It really inspires me to know that Namma Yatri stands with ambitious and industrious kids like me.”

Namma Yatri distinguishes itself from other ride-hailing businesses by putting its drivers’ well-being first. This includes programs like the Mahila Shakti Program, which empowers women drivers, financial education, zero-commission rides, awareness of government assistance systems, flexible work schedules, and now, educational scholarships for their children.

In the future, Namma Yatri intends to create new welfare programmes and extend the scholarship programme to more cities in order to better support drivers and their families. For the purpose of expanding this initiative and helping more students, the company also seeks partnerships with governmental entities, nonprofits, and corporate social responsibility departments.
