Subculture -pitching a business focused on the LGBTQ+ community, received encouragement from the Sharks

Randhir Pratap Singh, the founder of the fetish fashion brand Subculture, had an intriguing pitch on the most recent episode of Shark Tank India 4. Investors Anupam Mittal, Namita Thapar, Aman Gupta, Kunal Bahl, and Ritesh Agarwal were on the panel.

Due to his family’s Army heritage, Randhir has traveled all throughout India and referred to himself as the “colorful sheep” of the family. He talked about his experience with Subculture and requested Rs 50 lakh in return for 7% of his company. Aman Gupta asked Randhir if he had lived overseas after noticing his accent during the pitch. “From where did you get the accent?” Aman queried inquisitively when Randhir said he had never left India. His companions weren’t Indian, Randhir clarified. “But your parents are Indians, right?” Aman asked.

Anupam Mittal asked Randhir’s family what they thought of his company. Although they follow him on social media, Randhir disclosed that they don’t talk about his job. He also discussed the difficulties he encountered when building his brand.

The Shark tank pitch

Randhir demonstrated his products and gave some to the Sharks as part of his pitch. Everyone found Aman’s response to being flogged hilarious. “What made you choose this for me?” he said, holding the object in amazement.

Namita Thapar asked if the majority of Randhir’s clientele belonged to the LGBT community. Randhir acknowledged that the LGBTQ+ population accounted for 60% of his customers. After that, Namita talked about her personal experience hosting an LGBTQ health podcast episode. “That shows us that as a country, we are not ready yet,” she said, recalling the harsh trolling and abusive remarks she had received. She commended Randhir for his bravery and suggested that he concentrate on organic growth before looking for financing.

Subculture made a compelling proposal, but none of the Sharks decided to invest. Nevertheless, the jury commended Randhir for his audacious idea as he departed the Shark Tank India 4 stage.
