Sruthi Babu, Founder and CEO of “Sahayatha” – the world’s first wheelchair with an inbuilt toilet and self-cleaning assistance for the immobile people to assist them in their essential daily chores such as toileting to the ‘Sharks’ on Shark Tank India Season 2.

Under the auspices of BIRAC, the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council, Sruthi served as a “Sparsh” Fellow at the KIIT Technology Business Incubator. BIRAC is a not-for-profit Section 8, Schedule B, Public Sector Enterprise established by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, as an Interface Agency to support and enable the nascent biotech enterprise to engage in strategic research and innovation, addressing needs related to national product development.

Professor Satyajit Majumdar, a TISS professor and entrepreneurship educator who co-chairs the steering committee for the biotechnology-based program for societal development with BIRAC, stated, “She worked hard to make it successful after our initial facilitation.”

Sahayatha, a Tamil Nadu-based organization, strives to improve the lives of those who are unable to move around freely and those who are reliant on others to do daily tasks. They made the decision to take an unprecedented step in order to become self-sufficient.

Their ideas and ideals led them to rethink and apply technical concepts to create the most cutting-edge wheelchair currently on the market. Their invention guarantees that individuals with disabilities may take care of their own physical needs in a clean and hygienic manner in addition to providing them with the independence to do so.
