The start-up will continue operating as earlier and it is all set to leverage Zomato’s logistics and technology. However, the company chose not to disclose the financial details of this deal.

Feeding India was founded in 2015 by Ankit Kawatra and Sristhi Jain. Their service works when a potential donor leaves a request for them via their website or mobile app. The volunteers or staff working with the organization then goes to the location to check the food and collect it. The collected food is then distributed amongst the needy. Along with freshly cooked food, the NGO also serves raw grains to shelter homes or to its partners in need.

Zomato which sees food getting wasted at multiple levels such as harvesting, processing, consuming, packaging and transporting has always tried to do its bit to save food that is being wasted. Other major sources of cooked food wastage are hostels, restaurants, weddings, events and households. The company has earlier partnered with NGOs like the Robin Hood army, Akshaya Patra and Feeding India to solve some of these problems. They aim to serve more and more food to those in need and is tirelessly working for the same.
