Bigbasket is the biggest e-grocery supermarket in India. Bigbasket was founded by VS Sudhakar, V S Ramesh, Abhinay Choudhari, Hari Menon & Vipul Paresh in 2011. Based in Bangalore, Bigbasket’s is available in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Vijayawada, Mysore, Lucknow, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Gurugram, Vadodara, Patna, Indore, Visakhapatnam, Surat, Nagpur, Chandigarh, and others.
Bigbasket was introduced at a time when India’s busy personnel in the urban area was not able to find time to buy groceries from their busy schedule. With Bigbasket, it became more flexible to place an order anytime and get it delivered at your doorstep. Different groceries items such as Vegetables, oil, masalas, fruits, bakery items, beauty products, beverages, eggs, meat, fish and many more. Currently, There are more +18,000 products are available with more than 1000 brands under its belt. And in 20115, Bigbasket signed up actor Shah Rukh Khan as the brand ambassador.
Bigbasket current estimated revenue is Rs 3,500 crore according to the fiscal year 2019 and they are targeting to double it to Rs 7,000 by FY20. CEO Menon said, “The finance raised will be utilized for marketing, building infrastructure and developing the technology.”
According to some reports, Bigbasket has lifted up to Rs 1070.20 crore in a fresh round of finance from the government of United Kingdom’s owned development financial institution CDC Group and South Korea’s private equity company Mirae Asset. Recently, Bigbasket has grossed the target of 1 crore customers and making 1 lakh orders on a daily average. Its next target would be to take milk subscription business to 50% of a network in 10 major cities in the nation.
“We want to scale the milk subscription business and take it to the 10 major cities in the country and that will be our single largest new customer accession channel’,” Memon added.
Last month Bigbasket got its hands on beauty and cosmetics products as well. They are offering products from famous brands such as Garnier, L’Oreal, Lotus Herbals, Elle18, Maybelline and many more. “Bigbasket’s customers can now look further too far bigger variety in our supply with the new addition of beauty products to it. The foray into the cosmetics category comes at a period when we are at a boom in the market. With this category under the belt, we target to surpass our current user base and take the journey a mark higher in terms of the customer base and revenue as well. We will supply the extensive collection of affordable and daily used beauty products to our consumers,” said Seshu Tirumala.
