Adda247 Makes It’s 4th Acquisition, Buys Prepinsta For An Undisclosed Amount

Continuing its acquisition spree, Google-backed Adda247 has acquired placement preparation platform PrepInsta, establishing itself as an integrated provider of job-focused education and skilling courses for both private and public sector positions.

However, the financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

“We were primarily focused on government work until approximately four months ago, when we announced our move into skilling and higher education to expand into private sector positions. The overall narrative is that we want to be a fully integrated player, assisting people in preparing for jobs and acquiring the necessary skills, as well as collaborating with businesses to develop talent in both the public and private sectors,” Bimaljeet Singh Bhasin, CEO of Adda247’s skilling and higher education business, told ET.

Adda247’s Acquisitions So Far

Adda247 has already purchased four firms as part of its takeover.  The others are StudyIQ, a UPSC preparation platform purchased in 2021, Veeksha, an AR/VR learning module platform acquired in 2023, and Ekagrata Eduserv, a chartered accounting (CA) test preparation firm acquired in July of this year.

According to Bhasin, the corporation has selected important industries for its talent development activities, which include banking, financial services, insurance, and technology.

“Tech is the largest employer purely in terms of numbers and given our aspiration to be a significant player in job-related programmes and offerings technology as a sector makes a lot of sense for us to focus on,” the CEO stated.

What Does Adda247 Do?

Nagar and Saurabh Bansal founded Adda247 in 2016 as an edtech firm that prepares students for government employment entrance tests. It provides online instruction to students residing in Tier 2 cities and beyond.

It claims to have over 40 million monthly users and 2 million students registered in its premium courses. Adda247 provides training in 12 regional languages.

Adda247’s income increased by 88% year on year to INR 243.39 Cr in fiscal year 2023-24 (FY24), up from INR 129.65 Cr the prior year. Additionally, it reduced its net loss by 66% to INR 101 Cr, down from INR 296 Cr in FY23.

Adda247 last raised $35 million in an investment round headed by WestBridge Capital, with participation from Google and previous investors including Info Edge Ventures and Asha Impact. To date, the edtech startup has raised $63 million.
