Key Highlights

Dutch clean mobility company Lightyear has created a prototype, the Lightyear One having an ability to run 725 km (450 miles) in a single full charge.

The car can be charged for up to 400 km (nearly 250 miles) in one night from a regular 230V socket.

First 500 Lightyear One cars cost €119,000, equivalent to $135,000.

Technology is evolving from its conventional methods to innovative ideas and concepts. Developing several methods for reducing environmental pollution has become a major concern of government and startups worldwide. Government is spending huge funds on startups that are directly or indirectly related to solar energy or e-vehicles.

Nowadays renewable energy is completely replacing nonrenewable sources of energy for sustainable development. Folks are becoming more reliant on solar energy and are developing vehicles which can run on solar energy or can be electrically charged. In the same chain, Dutch clean mobility company Lightyear has created a prototype, the Lightyear One having a coach to run 725 km (450 miles) in a single full charge. It consists of a small battery that is rechargeable using solar energy or from conventional charging stations. The innovative features it offers is that it can be used for long road trips because it is not reliable on charging infrastructure on which other electric vehicles like Teslas used to be dependent on.

The company has built a roof and hood of the car in such a way that it is covered with five square meters of solar cells beneath safety glass. These are so strong that a grown adult can walk on them without causing dents and it is made lightweight, making it more power-efficient.

It has also the facility of charging it’s batteries at night using conventional charging facility too. The car can be charged for up to 400 km (nearly 250 miles) in one night from a regular 230V socket. The solar panels also charge it up to 12 km/hour (7.5 miles/hour).

Lightweight came into action in 2016. During college day’s co-founders of Lightweight developed solar-powered car named Stella for the World Solar Challenge in Australia and won the competition. They can further step forward to build the Lightyear Company to manufacture and sell similar vehicles on a huge scale.

The price of Lightyear One is so high. The cost of the first 500 cars is a cumbersome amount of €119,000, equivalent to $135,000, and these solar-powered cars can only come in the market by 2020. Lightbox has created several opportunities for investors who have a few thousands of dollars to invest in renewable energy mode of transportation can invest in

Lightbox to assist them in bringing a revolution.
Cab riding giants Ola and Uber have also put a step towards energy-saving electric vehicles to save fuels that are finishing by time. Government has also provided subsidy to opt for electric vehicles and has ordered electric charging stations initially in metro cities of India. Cab giants have initiated task of implementing electric vehicles. Soon you will be experiencing e-vehicle soon on road in your daily life.
