A decade before when it was tough for startups to raise funds but now the time has totally reformed. Investors and market giants are taking great interest in fueling innovative startups with huge funds. In the same move Mumbai based female wellness brand, Nua has raised $4 Million in Series A funding round. The round is led by venture capital firm Lightbox India Advisors Pvt. Ltd. The funding round also attracted existing investor Kae Capital.

Nua came into existence in 2017 by sharp and innovative minded Projjol Banerjea and Ravi Ramachandran, Swathi Kulkarni. The company is focused on making products and providing services concerned in women health and wellness sector. Recently it is manufacturing sanitary pads and selling them online.

It offers a special facility to women customers to customize the pack quantity and delivery of sanitary pads. It is working on an effective model direct to customer model. In this model customers have the facility to put their requirements and company will provide them customized sanitary pad boxes as of their needs. It also has a facility to deliver products to customer’s doorstep on a subscription basis.

According to Mr. Mehta, Lightbox, “Lightbox is taking care of women’s wellness and health in an innovative way so it fitted our bills. The manner we look about Nua is we want to create it as India’s leading technology-led female care brand.” 

He also added, Nua is going to explore more in manufacturing products covering a broader aspect of women’s wellness. It also has an active social media platform where women are liberal to ask questions, has meaningful discussions and put their views on women wellness and health. 

Nua rose its first funding from Kae Capital in 2018. Nua, monitored by Lagom Labs Pvt. Ltd is planning to use raised funds in the development of technology and products along with the marketing of products and hiring passionate and skilled personnel.

Lightbox has backed six startups by using its second fund raised in 2014. It has a wide portfolio including online food delivery company Rebel Foods, Melorra a jewelry e-tailer, furniture rental startup Furlenc and Droom an online car marketplace.
