Namma Yatri, a Bengaluru-based mobility app that focuses on driver empowerment, has launched operations in Mangalore, Karnataka.

Following a month-long trial period, the app was officially released at a ceremony attended by UT Khader, Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, and transport department officials.

The service intends to improve regional transportation accessibility while also creating job opportunities for drivers, answering the state’s pressing demand for affordable and reliable transportation.

Continuous Expansion by Namma Yatri in The Region

Namma Yatri’s move to Mangalore follows remarkable success in other Karnataka cities such as Bengaluru, Mysore, Tumkur, and Kalaburagi.

The app has gained considerable grassroots support, with 500 trips completed in November alone and over 300 drivers registered.

Naveen Kumar, Namma Yatri’s community advocate, stated, “Drivers feel genuinely empowered with Namma Yatri. The booking process is simple, consumers are picked up right at their door, and fares are transparent, fostering trust among travelers. We’re making more money, and consumers like the lower prices and improved service—a true win-win for Mangalore.

The strategy has also aroused interest in nearby places such as Udupi and Manipal, which plan to launch the app soon.

Namma Yatri’s Growth in Recent Times

UT Khader commended the effort, saying, “Namma Yatri demonstrates how technology can democratize services.” It not only improves regular commutes but also pays drivers well.

Earlier this year, the app was successful in Tumkur and Kalaburagi, with drivers making over 280,000 trips and earning a combined Rs 2 crore.

Namma Yatri now has a network of 2.3 lakh drivers and over 50 million customers, permitting around 1.6 lakh trips everyday.
