Agritech Startup Arya.Ag Plans Modernization of 200 Farmer Producer Organisations, to Make Them Smart

Arya.ag, a homegrown integrated grain trade platform, has announced plans to transform 200 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) into Smart Institutions.

The program, established in partnership with key partners, seeks to empower FPOs by utilizing technology and promoting collaborations to increase efficiency, promote sustainable farming practices, and create climate-resilient value chains.

Prasanna Rao, CEO and Co-Founder of Arya.ag, emphasized the significance of this endeavor in advancing the evolution of FPOs.

“We believe FPCs can evolve into Smart Institutions that use technology to increase efficiency in input sales and output purchases while also providing a varied variety of services. Smart FPCs will also play an important role in developing climate-resilient value chains by encouraging sustainable farming practices and facilitating business cooperation to support sustainable food sourcing,” Prasanna explained.

The 200 Smart FPOs plan will target FPOs in Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

The startup stated that it will collaborate closely with these FPOs to give them with access to technology, training, and support to help them improve their capabilities and promote long-term growth.

Arya.ag will use its agritech solutions to provide Smart FPCs with tools for expanding operations and increasing efficiency. The venture will also offer AI-powered agricultural advising services to help farmers make data-driven decisions and enhance their practices.

Furthermore, Arya.ag will let farmers preserve digital records of their operations, ensuring traceability and transparency along the value chain. Collaborations with business partners will be created to promote sustainable food procurement and open up new market prospects for Smart FPCs.

According to the announcement, training and capacity-building initiatives will be implemented to improve FPO members’ abilities and understanding of sustainable farming methods and company management.

“We believe that only a market-driven paradigm would allow FPOs to become hubs for sustainable practices. But we also need FPOs to be market-ready. The initiative has gained backing from important agricultural stakeholders, such as government agencies, development organizations, and corporate partners. Arya.ag will work closely with these partners to ensure that the program is implemented successfully and has the most impact on the ground.

The unveiling of the 200 Smart FPOs initiative at Rith Summit 2.0 is the result of stakeholder discussions at Rith 1.0 in December 2023. Thousands of farmers are expected to profit from the effort, which will help to build a more sustainable and resilient agricultural environment in India.
