Ola hires Puneet Bhirani former Mphasis executive as COO and CEO of Ola fleet Business

Ride-hailing unicorn Ola has done a high profile hiring by hiring former Mphasis executive Puneet Birani as CEO of its cab leasing arm, Ola fleet Business, and Chief operating officer of the company. He was serving previously as CEO of a subsidiary company of IT firm Mphasis, Risk disk based in Orlando in the US.

Bhirani will be serving a dual role in the firm by managing all business of OFT and handling sourcing and supply operations of the Company in India. According to an email by Bhavik Agrawal, CEO of Ola to its employees, “Sandeep Divakaran who is current CEO of OFT will transfer the role to Bhirani by next two months and he will be moving to enhance new initiative in the group on which he and I were exploring. He added he will disclose the new initiative by the near future.”

Bhirani appointment came into existence because of some senior level professionals exited from the company in 2018. This initiated in May 2018 when Vishal Kaul Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the firm quit the company to join PepsiCo as Vice President and category head beverages for India region. Therefore Pallav Singh, Senior Vice President of the company took all functions of Vishal Kaul and became interim COO of the company. After this exit there took place a series of exits in firm across 2018.

After some time Saikaran Krishnamurthy left the company and found his own company xto10x technologies. Susheel Balakrishnan, Chief People officer also quit the company and a month ago Pallav Singh SVP and interim CEO left the company to pursue his entrepreneur skills.
