High-school dropout inspired by 3 Idiots pitches innovative cooling vest on Shark Tank India, but Namita Thapar says ‘it’s too early to invest’

On the most recent episode of Shark Tank India, three young entrepreneurs—one of whom dropped out of high school—presented their creative cooling vests. By creating the brand Klimate, the founders banded together to address the issue of heat fatigue and heat strokes among delivery workers and laborers. They valued their business at Rs 18 crore and requested Rs 54 lakh in return for 3% equity. They claimed to have already raised Rs 54 lakh in grants and obtained the guidance of a number of well-known people. The user must insert nine cooling packs into the pockets of their vests in order to give their body a heat-resistant effect.

A 17-year-old Assamese pitcher claimed to have left school to concentrate on his company. He claimed that the movie 3 Idiots served as his inspiration. Both of his partners are still in school. One of them claimed that his father opposes entrepreneurship, while the other stated that he is a student at IIT Kanpur and has always aspired to start his own business. They claimed that they met through an incubator and became linked by their love of finding a solution.

Anupam Mittal said that since they already have grants and mentorship, he cannot add more value to their business. He backed out but wished the pitchers the best. Vineeta Singh said that she runs every day and finds it difficult to find a suitable fabric that can provide sufficient cooling for her. She said that the outfits she buys usually cost upwards of Rs 5000. Vineeta advised the pitchers to focus on lowering their costs further and dedicating themselves to perfecting their products.

While praising their vision and dedication to using a made-in-India product to solve an Indian problem, Namita Thapar stated that it is too early for her to invest in their business. Although they too pulled out of the agreement, Ritesh Agarwal and Kunal Bahl counseled the pitchers to create a personal plan. They would have some direction if they worked backwards from their final six-month target, according to Kunal. Only one of the three pitches made in the Shark Tank India special on campus ultimately paid off.

All four sharks—Kunal Bahl, Ritesh Agarwal, Anupam Mittal, Namita Thapar, and Vineeta Singh—were featured in an interesting episode of Shark Tank India: Season 4.
