Gaon on Shark Tank India Season 4

On the most recent Shark Tank India episode, Bihar-based businessman Alok made a pitch for his cloud kitchen company, Gaon. His goal, he stated, is to spread regional Indian food throughout India and, ideally, the world. In order to make litti chokha a pan-Indian snack that can rival momo, Alok stated that he is now concentrating on Bihari, Rajasthani, and Awadhi cuisines. He valued his business at Rs 20 crore and requested Rs 80 lakh in return for 4% equity. The panel of “sharks” was greatly impressed by the taste that Alok gave before his pitch.

The Shark Tank pitch

However, Aman Gupta believed that a company like this has a lot of moving parts. He withdrew the agreement, claiming that Alok still hasn’t mastered the standardization needed to expand his business throughout India. Although she had similar queries, Namita Thapar was pleased with Alok’s answers. Alok informed her that by cooking his famous handi meat in an oven, he had already begun the process of standardization. In the future, he claimed, this would require very little human intervention. Additionally, he stated that he maintains backups for each vendor and backups for backups.

Peyush Bansal believed that by launching three brands, he was overcommitting himself. Alok was instructed by Peyush to concentrate on litti and develop the brand in this manner. He informed Peyush that he intends to launch dozens of fillings in the future and that he wants customers to consider litti as a substitute for momos. According to Namita, her buddy and Wow Momo’s founder puts a lot of effort into standardization and research and development. Alok informed her that Wow Momo’s QSR revenue is more than double that of his little brand.

He stated that he is expected to make Rs 7.5 crore this year at his present run-rate. Namita made him an offer after being sufficiently impressed. However, Anupam Mittal and Vineeta Singh also expressed interest. Together, they offered Alok Rs 80 lakh in exchange for 8% equity. After considering his choices, Alok decided to lock the deal with two “sharks” rather than just Namita.
