Finesse, an AI-driven fintech startup, sold for $1.5 million

Three points you will get to know in this article:

1. Rohit Rao sold Finesse for $1.5 million to a strategic fintech group currently operating in stealth.

2. The deal aims to leverage the acquirer’s distribution to grow AUM from $5–6 million to $50–60 million within 12 months.

3. Finesse uses an AI engine to analyze behavioral and transactional data to boost conversion rates through personalization.

Strategic Exit and Investor Details

According to creator and CEO Rohit Rao, the four-year-old AI fintech business Finesse was sold to a group of strategic investors for a total consideration of about $1.5 million, as reported by Moneycontrol. He continued, “The exit transaction provides liquidity to early investors by including both cash and a stock component.”

Rao stated that the purchaser is a group of fintech and financial services (finserv) leaders creating a roll-up business in the AI financial services sector, but he did not reveal the acquirer’s specifics. By the end of the year or so, they are anticipated to emerge from stealth.

Scaling Through Distribution Muscle

According to Rao, “we sold Finesse because we wanted to achieve a certain amount of scale and that could come by leveraging the distribution muscle of a larger player.” “Our AUM was $5–6 million on our own, but with this sale, it can reach $50–60 million, a 10x increase in 12 months.”

Finesse is an AI engine that was founded in 2022 with the goal of enabling highly customized user experiences. The platform increases conversion rates by utilizing both transactional and behavioral data.

Among its clients were the CA firm BCL and the Bengaluru-based Bloomtree Advisors.
