ENT Koti does 20-25 Cochlear Implants surgeries per month

Hyderabad, 10th September 2025The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), A Fortune 500 Company under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has donated state-of-the-art medical equipment worth over ₹50 lakhs to the Government ENT Super Specialty Hospital, Koti, through the implementing agency Helping Hand Foundation. This support will significantly enhance diagnosis and treatment facilities for children requiring cochlear implantation surgeries and for patients suffering from laryngeal cancers.

At ENT Koti 4-5 Cochlear Implants surgeries are done in a week and about 20 -25 Cochlear Implants per month. The Cochlear Implants are covered under Aryogyasri, and the rest of the cost is free – For an otherwise prohibitively expensive Cochlear Implants surgeries in the private that cost anything between Rs 15-20 lacs.

The new equipment includes:

  • BERA – Brain Stem Evoked Response Audiometry: Helps detect hearing pathway issues in children, ensuring early identification of congenital deafness and eligibility for cochlear implantation.
  • Leica M320 Microscope: A high-end surgical microscope for cochlear implantation, micro ear surgeries, and treatment of tumours.
  • Flexible Nasopharyngo Laryngoscope: A device for diagnosing larynx and hypopharynx lesions, enabling early cancer detection without general anaesthesia.

The equipment was formally inaugurated by Mr. Piyush Mittal, Executive Director and State Head, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh State Office, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, in the presence of Dr. Anand Acharya, Superintendent, ENT Koti & other Senior Staff of the ENT Hospital, Koti.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Piyush Mittal said, that such partnerships between government hospitals and public sector enterprises play a vital role in strengthening public healthcare systems and improving patient outcomes.
