Butterfly Learnings, a health technology startup, has secured INR 32 Cr ($3.8 Mn) in funding through its Series A round. The investment, spearheaded by Insitor Impact Asia Fund (via Fund II) and Enzia Ventures, highlights a significant milestone for the company.

Notably, existing supporters like IIMA Ventures (the venture arm of IIM Ahmedabad), Foundation Botnar, 9 Unicorns, and Venture Catalysts also participated in this round, underscoring their continued confidence in Butterfly Learnings’ vision.

Expansion Plans and Establishment of Brick-and-Mortar Centers

The infusion of capital will fuel the startup’s expansion plans, enabling it to reach new regions and enhance its technology-driven therapy programs. Moreover, a portion of the funds will be directed towards the establishment of additional brick-and-mortar centers, with ambitions to reach a total of 200 in the foreseeable future.

Mission to Fast-Track Delivery of Pediatric Health Solutions

“This injection of funding marks a significant step forward for us, enabling our mission to fast-track the delivery of accessible and proven pediatric behavioral and developmental health solutions to families all across India,” shared Sonam Kothari, CEO and co-founder of Butterfly Learnings.

Nicholas Lazos, co-founder and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Insitor Impact Asia Fund, commented on the fundraising, saying, “Sonam and Abhishek have effectively utilized their deep clinical and technological know-how to provide evidence-based, tech-driven therapy solutions for children. We wholeheartedly back them as they embark on this exciting new phase of expansion.”

Established in 2021 by Kothari and Abhishek Sen, Butterfly Learnings is dedicated to assisting children with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) and behavioral issues through the implementation of applied behavioral analysis (ABA), speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

Current Operations and Geographic Reach

Operating as a phygital platform, the company provides customized support for children and families dealing with challenges associated with neurodiversity. Butterfly Learnings has 30 centers located across Maharashtra and proudly serves approximately 2,000 families at present. The Mumbai-based startup, Butterfly Learning, has over 250 in-house trained therapists and operates in nearby urban areas like Pune, Nagpur, and Nasik.

Prior Funding, Recognition, and Competition

In 2022, the startup secured $2 million in funding from investors like Insitor Partners and 9 Unicorns. It faces competition from companies like KinderPass. Butterfly Learning was also highlighted in “30 Startups To Watch” list in October 2022, which showcases promising startups across various sectors.
