In response to increased demand for 10-minute deliveries, ecommerce giant Flipkart is looking to expand its speedy delivery service, ‘Flipkart Minutes’, to new cities.

Flipkart’s chief corporate affairs officer, Rajneesh Kumar, told PTI that the business intends to expand Flipkart Minutes to additional locations in the near future. However, he did not specify a date for the expansion.

“Customer centricity is vital to us. Customers in Kolkata, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai are increasingly looking for speedier deliveries. We are testing this service and have already launched it in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi,” Kumar added.

India's Ecommerce Market, Flipkart’s Entry In Quick Commerce

He also stated that by 2028, India’s ecommerce market will account for 12% of the country’s entire retail market, driven by clients in urban and semi-urban areas.

The comments come three months after Flipkart began testing Flipkart Minutes in certain areas of Bengaluru in August. In September, the firm expanded its service to include Delhi NCR.

Flipkart’s entry into the market was in response to the growing popularity of rapid commerce services, which has resulted in the creation of deep-pocketed behemoths such as Zomato-owned Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, and Tata-owned BigBasket.

Other Established Brands Entering in Quick Commerce

Just days ago, Tata Group’s superapp, Neu, joined the rapid commerce bandwagon with the name ‘Neu Flash’ and a 15-minute delivery promise. Meanwhile, Amazon India intends to introduce its rapid commerce service ‘Tez’ in 2025.

This expansion has been fuelled by rising disposable income in households as well as a preference for convenience and speed. According to projections, the fast commerce business in India is expected to generate $9.95 billion by 2029.
