The championship match versus the Punjab Kings (PBKS) featured not just high-stakes action but also drew an astonishing 61.8 crore views on JioHotstar by its conclusion.

It is crucial to differentiate between viewers and views: viewers refer to the count of unique individuals watching the match, whereas views denote the total number of streams, including multiple viewings by the same user.  The figure of 61.8 crore represents the total views during the game.

RCB was the first to bat.  At the 10.2 over mark, with the score at 90 for 2 and Virat Kohli batting with Rajat Patidar, JioHotstar had already logged 20.3 crore views.

Though Patidar fell at 10.5 overs, the excitement mounted as the innings went on.  By the end of the innings, views had skyrocketed to 32.3 crore, and reached 34.9 crore when RCB completed their innings at 190 for 9.

The Punjab Kings’ chase attracted even more focus.  When 9.2 overs were bowled and PBKS scored 80 for 2, views surged to 49.8 crore.  Even though they fought hard, PBKS found themselves at 149 for 7 when views surpassed 60 crore.

With PBKS at 161 for 7 and seven balls remaining, the JioHotstar viewership was 60.5 crore. Despite PBKS hitting two sixes and two fours in the last over, they did not reach the target. At the end of the match, total views had hit a record 61.8 crore.

In a highly charged climax, RCB’s Virat Kohli celebrated by dropping to the ground on his knees and touching his forehead to it before hugging fellow players.  RCB and their supporters had been waiting for this triumph for almost 20 years.

Last year, the official streaming platform JioCinema saw its audience reach increase by 38% to 620 million, compared to 449 million in the previous season.
