Gaming Startup Hitwicket Teams Up with ISB to Boost Gaming Careers in India

Cricket gaming startup Hitwicket has announced a strategic partnership with the Indian School of Business (ISB), a top business school in India. This collaboration aims to create career opportunities in the gaming sector through the ISB GameX Accelerator program.

The ISB GameX Accelerator is a three-month program designed to support aspiring gaming and esports entrepreneurs. It provides participants with business and technological resources, mentorship from industry experts, fundraising guidance, and access to a vibrant gaming community. The goal is to nurture talent, drive innovation, and equip entrepreneurs with the tools needed to succeed in the competitive gaming landscape.

Traditionally, business schools have focused on sectors like consultancy and finance. However, this initiative seeks to tap into the booming esports industry, which plays a significant role in the Digital India vision. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent interactions with top gamers highlight the government’s focus on positioning India as a global gaming hub.

India’s online gaming industry has experienced rapid growth, with a 28% CAGR from FY20 to FY23. Projections suggest this growth will continue, reaching Rs 33,243 crore by FY28 with a sustained 15% CAGR. The sector attracts considerable foreign and domestic investments and generates significant employment opportunities.

Founded in 2020 by Keerti Singh and Kashyap Reddy, Hitwicket is a Hyderabad-based cricket strategy gaming startup. Earlier this year, renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle invested in Hitwicket, reinforcing the potential of esports in India. Bhogle, who has over 40 years of experience in cricket commentary and holds an MBA, aims to help Hitwicket achieve 50 million downloads globally within the next two years.

Keerti Singh and Kashyap Reddy, co-founders of Hitwicket, noted the significant transformation in the Indian gaming industry since their startup’s inception. They emphasized that ISB’s support for the gaming sector through the GameX Accelerator program will be a game-changer, fostering innovation and growth.

Saumya Kumar, Director at I-Venture, ISB, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting Hitwicket’s deep understanding of the Indian gaming market. This collaboration is expected to equip future gaming leaders with the skills and resources necessary to drive innovation and contribute to India’s thriving gaming ecosystem.
