Ixigo provides instant travel information, rates and availability of flights, trains, buses, cabs, hotels, packages, and destinations. After being a part of for a European travelling companyAmadeus, Bajpai began pursuing his business studies at INSEAD’s Asia campus Singapore. After coming back to India, Bajpai met his then classmate Kumar (Co-founder) and they both decided to start Ixigo, a travel search engine website.

Recently Ixigo announced its Ixigo train app as the world’s 6th most downloaded travel application on Google Play store. Based on Sensor Tower’s November 2018 data report, Ixigo trains app features in the top10 downloaded apps in the travel segment, just behind Uber, Grab and, Google Grab. The top spot makes Ixigo the fastest growing and most trusted travel application.

With almost 30 million monthly active users and 120 million app downloads, Ixigo has observed exceptional progress over the last year, becoming the biggest travel platform in the country. The firm has also seen six times progress in transactions touching 1.2 million travellers bookings per month for flights, hotels, trains and, buses.

Ixigo works with online travel agents and the suppliers directly as the #1 meta-search in the country. With 12 million active users and 40 million+ application downloads, Ixigo is starred 4.9 out of 5 and is India’s #1 trip planning and travel analysis website and mobile application through its customer assistance and travelling guide.

Over 80% of Ixigo’s transactions are done over through mobile application. Ixigo is among the few platforms which have unbundled into various mobile applications on Android and IOS. Unlike its competitors such as Uber, Ola, Easycabs, etc. have an app-only feature.

Ixigo is now aiming at its trains app to capitalize on growth from the ‘next billion users’ from tier 2 and 3 towns. The company has in the past one year introduced a slew of AI feature, including its award-winning multi-lingual voice-based travel assistant.

TARA, Siri shortcuts, and an AR feature making it effortless for travellers to detect their coach positions at +7,000 railway stations around the country. To lighten points of train passengers in India passing through low network locations, the firm also launched an offline mode feature for travellers to check live running status without internet.

Aloke Bajpai commented, “Ixigo’s train app has become the standard app for millions of passengers in India. Almost 50% of the smartphone population in many Tier 2 towns such as Patna, Jaipur, Lucknow, Indore, etc. Now use Ixigo for all their travel assistants.”

The Ixigo trains application is available in seven Indian languages last year such year, English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada, and Tamil which covers over 95% of the digital user base in India.
