In an all-cash deal, Mumbai-based gaming and esports company Nazara Technologies paid Rs 228 crore ($27.2 million) to purchase London-based game studio Fusebox Games.

The founder and CEO of Nazara Technologies, Nitish Mittersain, stated, “We see a large opportunity in building an IP-based global gaming business that benefits from our core base in India where we can support global studios through enhanced user acquisition strategies, data analytics, live operations and new initiatives like implementing our in-house AI playbook.”

“Many of our existing IP’s are good examples of this strategy and we are happy to join forces with the talented team at Fusebox as we continue to build Nazara into a global gaming company of meaningful scale,” said Mittersain.

What is the Footprint of Fusebox Games?

Interactive storytelling games are the focus of Fusebox, a mobile free-to-play studio. In addition to producing new games based on well-liked international TV IPs, the studio publishes the well-liked interactive tale game “Love Island.”

With in-app purchases accounting for around 92% of total sales in July of this year, the company runs IP-driven interactive story games.

The US, UK, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and New Zealand are among the developed markets that Fusebox principally targets.

Primarily situated in the UK, the company employs 30 people.

Has Nazara Technologies Acquired Other Companies in the past?

The announcement of Absolute Sports, a Nazara Tech subsidiary, acquiring all of DeltiasGaming.com’s assets preceded the current development.

The acquisition was made with the intention of increasing its presence in the US gaming and esports media market. Furthermore, Nextwave Multimedia, another Nazara subsidiary, completed the purchase of Ultimate Teen Patti (UTP), a casual freemium card game.

Nazara declared in March that it will allocate $100 million over the course of the following 24 months to mergers and acquisitions. Since then, it has bought Kiddopia maker Paper Boat Apps and invested in Circle of Games. Nazara also took over the assets of Deltias Gaming and purchased the IP rights to Ultimate Teen Patti from Games24x7 through its subsidiaries.
