Bhuvan Bam Joins Sexual Wellness Brand Peppy, Becomes Co-Founder

Bhuvan Bam, a content creator and Youtuber, has joined Direct-to-consumer sexual wellness brand Peppy as an investor and co-founder.

Peppy, established in 2023 by Devansh Agarwal and Shyamal Gupta, distributes a variety of sexual wellness items for men and women, including as massagers and lubricants. During its most recent fundraising round, which included Bam and other angel investors, the D2C brand was valued at INR 50 crore.

In a statement, Peppy said it raised $500K in a pre-seed round headed by Bam, BBKV Productions cofounder and CEO Rohit Raj, and others in May of this year.

It is worth noting that BBKV Productions is a subsidiary of BB Ki Vines Private Limited, which is owned by Bam.

“With Bhuvan and Rohit’s signature creativity and knack for connecting with people, we’re breaking barriers and normalising conversations around pleasure,” the two founders of Peppy said in a statement.

How Will Bhuvan Bam Help Peppy Grow?

The relationship will allow Peppy to use Bam’s online fame to “connect” with the masses and promote its products to a larger audience. Notably, this is not Bam’s first time investing in a firm. In 2022, he invested in the creator-owned marketplace business HYPD.

Bam commented on the investment, stating that while society has made considerable advancements, the taboo surrounding physical contact still holds individuals back. By working with Peppy, I hope to assist people overcome societal restrictions and encourage them to embrace their journey to intimacy with confidence and ease.”

Peppy said in the statement that it is now raising a seed round of $1 million to $2 million with the goal of extending its sales channels and market reach.

The startup competes with companies such as Bold Care, MyMuse, and Kindly. Last year, Bold Care added actor Ranveer Singh as a co-owner.

Developments In Indian Sexual Wellness Sector

The development comes as more and more celebrities invest in Indian enterprises. This year, 19 celebrities, including Deepika Padukone, Raveer Singh, Karan Johar, and KL Rahul, have invested in 21 businesses.

Notably, the Indian sexual wellness business has recently seen strong financial interest. To extend its omnichannel presence, MyMuse secured $2.7 million in a Pre-Series A round led by Trifecta Capital and CRED founder Kunal Shah in a mix of debt and equity in January of this year.

Sirona, a feminine hygiene firm, made its first move into the sexual health industry last year when it acquired vegan condom maker Bleü.
