Tesla Set to Open India’s First Supercharger Station in Mumbai Next Week

Three points you will get to know in this article:

1. Reports suggest that Tesla has announced the launch of its first supercharging station in India next week, beginning with Mumbai.
2. The new charging station will feature four V4 supercharging stalls (DC fast chargers) and four destination charging stalls (AC chargers).
3. Tesla stated that this will be the first of the eight supercharging locations announced during the launch in Mumbai.

Tesla Announces First-Ever Supercharging Station in India

Tesla has recently started its business activities in India by opening its first showroom in Mumbai.  The US-based brand is readying the launch of its first supercharger in the country while preparing to open its second showroom in Delhi as part of its expansion efforts.

On August 4, 2025, this Tesla Charging Station will be located in One BKC, Mumbai. According to PTI, the new Tesla charging station in Mumbai will be the country’s first and will feature four V4 supercharging stalls (DC fast chargers) and four destination charging stalls (AC chargers).

“This will be the inaugural site of the eight supercharging locations announced during the launch in Mumbai, with additional sites planned nationwide to create the best cross-country experience,” the company’s statement was quoted in the report.

After a long wait for regulatory approvals, Tesla officially entered the Indian market last month with the launch of its Model Y RWD (rear wheel drive) in Mumbai.

What are the Specifications and Cost of New Tesla Superchargers in India?

The station, situated in Mumbai, will include four V4 Supercharging stalls that provide rapid DC charging at a maximum rate of 250 kW for ₹24/kWh, as well as four Destination (AC) chargers that offer 11 kW for ₹14/kWh, the company announced in a statement on Friday.

Tesla stated, “This will be the first of the eight Supercharging sites announced during the launch in Mumbai, with additional locations planned throughout the country to ensure the best cross-country experience.”

Boosting EV Adoption: Tesla’s Expansion Plans Across India with Model Y SUV

The announcement comes after the company’s official entry into India last month, which involved launching the Model Y SUV starting at ₹59.89 lakh and opening its first experience centre at Maker Maxity in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai.

Touting the effectiveness of its charging network, Tesla asserted that the Model Y can acquire a range of up to 267 kilometers in only 15 minutes on its Superchargers — “sufficient for five round trips between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Gateway of India”.

Tesla will provide a free installation of a wall connector with each new car purchase to facilitate home charging, the company added.

As Tesla’s first charging station opens, it is anticipated to mark a crucial juncture in India’s premium EV adoption narrative, providing customers with the fast-charging ease that is a global expectation for Tesla owners.
