“Awayddings Seeks Rs 2 Crore on Shark Tank India, Aiming to Make Destination Weddings Affordable``
After pitching their company, CEO Ashish Arun and COO Vijay Kumar requested Rs 2 crore for 5% stock, increasing the valuation to Rs 40 crore. Ashish, a Pune native who had previously worked with OYO’s wedding vertical, quickly saw a gap in this unorganized sector and made the decision to start a one-stop shop for destination weddings—that is, weddings under Rs 15 lakh in upscale locations like Goa and Jaipur, which are typically too expensive for the average person.
Dhol, destination weddings, and deals: Awaydding pitch at Shark Tank India
The founders of Awaydding put the Sharks in a festive spirit right away with drum sounds. They effectively presented their problem statement and made an investment case while grooving to the music. CEO Ashish was playing a match against Kumar’s daughter at a table tennis facility when he unexpectedly saw his co-founder. They both invested Rs 42 lakhs to launch the company in 2021, but they were able to secure an outside investor.
The Sharks, however, were alarmed by this and wondered how they had given 50% stock for Rs 1.23 crore at the time. “Paise ke saath saath unhone se aapse aapki identity bhi le li [They took away your identity, with the money],” Mittal said. However, the CEO of Awaydding quickly replied that they had limited their stake at a 75-25 ratio with their angel investor, with Ashish and Vijay keeping an equal 37.5% share.
“Awayddings Offers End-to-End Destination Wedding Solutions, Expanding from Budget to Luxury Celebrations``
From sampling and research to finalizing the location, cuisine, and décor, the dynamic team provides families with a complete solution. now began by grabbing the lower end of Rs 10–15 lakhs, but now even cater to high-end clients with a Rs 2 crore wedding. Typically, their packages include a three-day event that can hold eighty people.
Nearly 70% of the money they claim goes into the venue, with the remaining 33.33% going toward the cuisine and décor. Varanasi and Rishikesh will soon follow. Thirty percent of the marketing is done through word-of-mouth alone, and Shark Tank judge Namita Thapar commended the team for fostering client loyalty.
Financial Highlights of Awayddings
- FY 24-25
- FY 25-26 Projected
Sharing details about their revenue, founders say, in 2024-25, they made a revenue of Rs 1.95 crores, with 10-12 percent EBITDA. In 2025-26, year-to-date revenue was Rs 1.17 crores, and they projected to make Rs 3.6 crore revenue.
The Shark Tank Pitch on Awayddings
By the conclusion of FY 25–26, Awayddings hopes to host more than 70 weddings, bringing in an estimated Rs 3.6 crore. However, a number of investors were cautious due to the significant scaling problems and expensive operating costs. “Jaan nikal jaati hai!” said Kunal Bahl as he withdrew, emphasizing the effort that occasionally necessitates ten times the procedures from the prior wedding, costing money, time, and physical labor.
In a similar vein, Namita anticipated that the wedding industry’s seasonality would be a significant barrier to its expansion. She also mentioned how, in the absence of “mini-Ashish” or “mini-Vijay,” the 17-person team would handle multiple weddings that fall on the same day.
Similar restrictions with the city caused the creators of Shaadi.com and Minimalist to back out of the agreement. Anupam Mittal of Shaadi.com, however, also suggested that they restrict their business to Goa and Jaipur, which are their specialized regions. He said that they ought to become the “wedding gundays [wedding goons]” of the cities, controlling the wedding planning industry across all budgets and monopolizing the market.
Aman Gupta gives an offer…but on one condition

Lastly, Bollywood enthusiast Aman Gupta, a judge on Shark Tank, revealed that he has always wanted to work for a company similar to “Band Baja Baarat.” He frequently cited movies, and in earlier episodes, he paraphrased a dialogue from Sholay.
In contrast to their first request of Rs 2 crore for 5% equity, Gupta offered Rs 1 crore for 10% equity and Rs 1 crore in loan at 10% interest for two years. But all he asked for was, “isme mera naam kahi nhi aega [my name won’t be mentioned anywhere].”
The founders of Awaydding decided to sign the agreement after careful consideration. As Gupta danced his way up to the founders to give them the check, the three of them celebrated with a dhol. As they celebrated the deal together and Mittal asked Gupta to sit on the dhol, they had a candid moment.
